Tech Genius Hiro and His Lovable, Huggable Robot Pal Baymax
Are Back for More Adventures!
About Big Hero 6 The Series:
The adventures continue for tech genius Hiro Hamada and his healthcare companion, the lovable, inflatable Baymax! Picking up right before the end of the film, Hiro thinks Baymax is lost forever, until he finds the chip Tadashi designed to create Baymax. Hiro immediately gets to work rebuilding Baymax, but Hiro’s overconfidence and impatience get him into trouble. The stakes are raised for Hiro, Baymax and their friends – adrenaline junkie Go Go, control freak Wasabi, chem whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred – as they fight to protect San Fransokyo as the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6.
My Thoughts:
While Big Hero 6 continues the story of Hiro, Baymax, and their friends there are a few differences in the television series compared to the movie. The show focuses more on the group of friends being the city’s protectors from a variety of villains. Hiro is moving on from his brothers death, but the themes of courage and perseverance continue as he finds his own way. He is inspired by his brothers memory and has moved out of mourning. This sends a positive message about overcoming loss and the grieving processes. The animation does not compare to the movie, but the series does offer great lessons in problem-solving skills, emotional awareness, and a strong set of characters. In my book that’s pretty good for an animated series!
