Recently, I have seen a few bloggers post about their week. Originally, when I started my 10 Things I Learned posts that is what I was looking to do with my blog. Then that evolved into something else and I will continue to post about what I’ve learned, but now I want to share what a week in my life looks like and what things I loved about it. This was a good week in my home.
This week I loved:
That my cat Ritzy, can always be counted on to sit on all my piles of papers that I just sorted and organized to work on. Always!
I’m loving Franklin’s Gourmet Movie Theater Popcorn! We have a huge popcorn maker and we have been making our own concoction, but then a friend clued me in on these all in one packs. I now order them by the case! This brand is organic and GMO free and at a great price point. I add a bit more popcorn to the mix because it tends to be a bit to salty for me, but that’s the beauty of each section being separate. You can add as much or as little of the salt.
The boys and I made treat bags for their classes for Valentines Day. It’s a great way to give something that is fun, tasty, and not more candy! It was a big hit!
We really went all out on Valentines Day here at my house this year. My favorite part although was this card that my 10 year-old made for me. He wrote me that most amazing love poem from a boy to his mom on the inside. He asked me not to share it here. I can tell you that it made me cry more than once!
I’ve been watching The Sopranos again and I’ve really been enjoying the music. Maybe because I’ve seen the episodes so many times I can finally focus on the details and not just the story. I was surprised to find out that this song is by Steve Van Zandt. He not only played Silvio Dante on the show, but is part of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. The song has never been officially released, nor has The Lost Boys album. The song did find a home on a compilation of songs heard on The Sopranos entitled Peppers and Eggs.
In the episode, Tony’s mistress is searching the radio for a song to do a seductive strip tease to and comes across this song. She asks Tony “What do you think of him?”, to which Tony replies “Eh, he’s alright.”
This week I started my third week with a nutritional coach and new eating program. I’ve been looking to improve my health, fitness level, and lose some weight. I’ve tried so many things, but THIS I am loving! The program is individualized and within the structure I can eat whatever I want! I have lost 2.8 pounds and 1 inch off my waist. I have been sleeping better than I ever have and my energy level is through the roof! I feel great. I think I finally found something that works for me. The food that I am taking in is truly motivating me in different parts of life. I honestly don’t even care about my weight anymore because I feel so good. ( Although I still want to lose 10 pounds!) Check out Stronger U for more information about what they offer.
Now that I’m completely into changing my life I broke down and purchased a Fitbit Charge HR. I am learning so many things about myself from wearing this activity tracker. Honestly, I thought I walked more than I do. I’m also getting a peak at my sleep patterns and my heart rate when I exercise. This has answered quite a few questions that I had about my health and endurance levels. I’m still new to using it, but love, love, love it!
This week I finally visited an endocrinologist and it has been officially confirmed that I am going through menopause! OMG! How did this happen? I’m only 45! It was an information visit and I learned quite a few things about myself. The good part- I have the kidney and liver function of a 15-year-old! Amazing with all the booze I drink, so yay me! Besides the hormone disruptions I’m in beyond great shape. I don’t take an meds and don’t need any. He suggested I read this book: OutLiving your Ovaries. I ordered it and will give you the scoop! At least I don’t feel crazy anymore for having minor symptoms and people telling that I’m too young. I guess I’m not.
I received this postcard in the mail anonymously! I laughed my ass off and later found out it was a friend that sent it to me. I loved that they thought or me. This makes me want to surprise other people with something fun just to brighten their day like mine was brightened. It’s always nice when people think about you.
This amazing Cook’s Companion Wonder Pot is the latest giveaway I’m featuring n my blog! I’ve been having a good time this week trying out all the different features! Stop by and enter!
My brother has digitalized our old family movies. I make my first appearance at the 5 minute mark! That baby would be me! I love seeing my parents together back in the day. Gosh my dad was handsome and boy was my mom ever gorgeous! I feel so lucky to have these old films and be able to show them to my kids.
My oldest son has decided to focus his talents on running. We just signed him up for a runners club because there isn’t any track at his school. We husband took him to Frank’s Custom Shoe Fitting as my son has foot issues and finding shoes that fit well has been impossible. It’s not everyday that you can get shoes by a Guinness Book of World Records running hero! The race is on!
Saturday night I received a surprise phone call from a friend asking if I would like to head out and meet her for a drink. I hesitated at first because I had already settled in for the night, but quickly changed my mind. Take this message with you for the week: Sometimes real life can wait. My papers aren’t going anywhere, my house can only get dirtier, but this is a chance to just live. One of the healthiest things you can do for yourself is spend time with friends. We all get wrapped in the mess of what has to be done and don’t just do it. Leap! Be spontaneous! Start saying yes to life. These moments are precious.
What have you loved this week?

The card from my son would have been my favorite thing too! My son paints pictures for me each week, so I love that. I love that I was given an amazing speaking opportunity this week.

That’s one thing I definitely have to work on- to understand that real life can wait and to be more spontaneous! Being a mom to a hyper, growing toddler and being so busy with college, I forgot how to just “live”. You get into a automatic mindset as a parent. What I loved this week was visiting my family in Virginia with my daughter!

Ah, I need to rewatch the Sopranos too. It’s been years since we finished the final episode. I bet a lot of the music would come right back to me.
Emily says
Oh, my husband and I have become such popcorn snobs. He likes gourmet stuff and we always stop in a little store if we smell it. You have to get some!
